What is nanotechnology and why is it on this web site? Nanotechnology
deals with engineering problems at the atomic level. The tools
are being developed to manipulate atoms one at a time to the
end of building complex, extremely small machines and materials.
There is a lot about NT on the web, and I'll display some
key links below. Nanotechnology is on this web site because
I am researching nanocomputer issues dealing with software
architecture, components, complexity, and reliability. More
on this later...
| The image at right is a
ball-and-stick rendition of a "simple" nanopump
designed by Dr. K. Eric Drexler. The pump is composed
of 6165 atoms with 8870 bonds. I fed the nanopump pdb
file into RASMOL
to generate the image. See the pump
at the Institute
for Molecular Manufacturing. |
